Ousmane Diarra est né en 1960 à Bassala, au Mali. De son village de Bassala dans les brousses maliennes, il dévorait les caisses d’ouvrages livrés par los angeles Croix-Rouge. Diplômé de l’école normale supérieure de Bamako (Maîtrise de lettres modernes), il a enseigné le français pendant deux ans. Il est actuellement bibliothécaire au Centre culturel de Bamako. À ce titre il a participé à de nombreuses animations autour du conte au Mali et en France. Aujourd’hui, après avoir publié plusieurs nouvelles, il s’est enfin senti légitimé dans son amour de los angeles littérature avec son ideal roman très remarqué, Vieux Lézard. Il a ensuite enseigné le français au lycée mixte d’Accart-Ville à Bobo-Dioulasso, au Burkina Faso. Depuis 2002, il est professeur de lettres au lycée Massa Makan Diabaté à Bamako. Metteur en scène de l. a. troupe du lycée, il réalise aussi des expositions avec ses élèves, qu’il a encadrés pour l’adaptation en bandes dessinées du Lieutenant de Kouta de Massa Makan Diabaté. Partenaire de Lire en Fête, il contribue au competition Étonnants Voyageurs au Mali, dès 2003. Il est organisateur du concours de lecture « Génies des Bibliothèques », espace d’émulation entre les élèves des différents établissements de los angeles capitale, et animateur du groupe AkaGafé, qui a pour vocation de promouvoir l. a. littérature francophone.
